Megan's Page
I am 14 years old and in 8th grade.
I am a member of the Leopidopterists' Society, the North American Butterfly
Association - NABA, the Ohio Lepidopterists, the Arizona Lepidopterists, and
the Kentucky Lepidopterists.  I spend my spring and summer days collecting,
studying, photographying, and rearing lepidoptera.  My photographs have been in
gallery shows.  I spend a lot of time writing for  
www.wikipedia.com , the Wiki
Project Lepidoptera for all to read and see; just go to wikipedia and enter "north
american butterflies" to see my articles, lists, and photos.

What I Want to be when I Grow Up: An Entomologist with a specialty in Lepidoptera
Other Things I Like to Do:    I also love to explore outside; write in my nature journal; and read, study,
write and work on my website about butterflies; and taking nature photos.  I love taking Karate, too.  I also
 working on the computer to update Wikipedia and emailing my girl friends in South Korea, swimming,
needlepointing, knitting, crocheting, doing homeschool group activities, and playing with my friends.  I also
enjoy volunteering at our local food pantry and at Matthew 25 Ministries as well as making blankets for
our local church missions and Warm Up America.

In Jul '09 I attended the butterfly count at Big Oaks
Wildlife Refuge in Indiana

In Jul/Aug '09 I attended to two butterfly and moth
field trips to Arizona.

I was recognized in the North American Butterfly
Association's American Butterflies, summer '09 edition,
for my sightings of the rare Falcate Orangetip and the
Henry's Elfin

In Aug '09 I became an associate researcher for L.
Gibson in an endeavor to find the
Hystrichophora
loricana
in Indiana; I and the team of 3 are considered
the first people to find the moth here in Indiana, with
me being one of only 6 people in the world to see it.  Our
report is on file in the National Heritage Database.

In Aug '09 U received a Wikipedia Lepidoptera Barnstar
award for all my edits on moths.

In Aug '09 my article on Kricogonia lyside was selected
to be in Wikipedia's Did You Know Section

In Sept '09 we traveled out west and visited 13 national
parks and places of interest:  
Sequoia NP, Yosemite NP, Craters of the Moon NM,
Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Arches NP,
Hovenweep NM, Four Corners,  Sunset Crater Volcano
NP, Grand Canyon NP, Bryce NP, Zion NP, and Death
Valley NP

In Oct '09 I attended the fall meeting session of the
Ohio Lepidopterists in Columbus, OH

In Oct '09 I began beta testing Second Form Latin for
Memoria Press.  I love Latin and helping them come out
with a great curriculum - it's due out fall 2010

National Junior Classical League in Apr '10.
