Seterra is a great - and free - program you can download to your computer for your
children to play. It's a comprehensive geography program covering the continents,
countries, capitals, and cities of the world.
First children select a continent to work on. Next they select what they want to learn
about on that continent; for example, countries. Then when they click Start they will
be timed as they try to select the correct country named. The game color codes your
countries as you select them. For example, if you are asked to find Spain, and you
select it right away, it turns white; if it takes you two tries to find it, green; if it takes
you 3 tries, red. If you don't get it in 3 tries, the game will show you where it is.
Pros: It's a blast to do and the children really learn quickly, as they try to better their
score each time. This can get addicting, in a good way, of course!
