Return to Home Room
Homeschooling is the ability for children to be educated within their own
families by dedicated parents at home as opposed to attending a public or
private school outside the home.  There truly is no place like home! Family
bonds are made stronger; family values are passed on easily to the children;
children can begin their education process at any time the parent feels
appropriate; children can learn at a pace that is comfortable to them;
curriculum can be customized to each individual child, not the "average"
child; bright children escape boredom and slower children escape confusion;
children have more free time to pursue their individual interests; children grow
up learning their social graces from their parents; children have friends and
interact with people of varying ages.  The home is where children learn not
only reading and math, but also how to function in society and about how to
make a life by helping their parents with everyday chores.  They learn life
itself.  In the words of John Dewey, philosopher and educational theorist,
"education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."
